The Dark Side

I always considered myself a freedom fighter, a rebel, if you will. Running Linux on my computers, using open source, disliking MS Windows in every aspect and trying to convince others Microsoft is evil.

Two jobs and some experience later I made a life changing decision. Seeing jobs as a PHP developer weren’t wide spread in the eastern part of the country, my options were limited to only a few employers, or moving to the decadent western part of the country! Since the latter wasn’t an option, I decided to take the direction in which the job offers were plenty and the salaries were higher. Yes, Microsoft’s .NET.

I’ve been at my new job for over half a year now and recently we were offered the chance of becoming .NET certified. We would take course 70-536, aka the .NET foundation course; the doorway to the grand world of .NET certifications, the first hurdle.

To cut a long story short, I passed on the first try with a score of 929/1000. I got my certification and traveled to the Dark Side. Microsoft’s side. From now on, I’m a .NET programmer and will embark on a mission to enrich Windows users with programs I will create in my own image. No longer a rebellious voice trying to convert people. No longer fighting for freedom. No longer resisting. I now carry the mark of the beast.

Side note: This was meant to be sarcastic. I still love all things Linux and Unix and still promote them. I did pick .NET with my future and pay check in mind and do not regret it thus far.

A nice writeup. I will monitor your progress closely as you make your first steps on your way to becoming a Sith Lord. remember: “Let the hate flow trough you!”
