Phase two?

Posted on Thu 04/09/09 in House quest

It’s been two months since my last update.. an eternity on the internet. I concluded my previous post with “enter phase two!”. No idea what I meant with phase two, but I’ll post some progress now :-)

A lot has happened over the past two months, however, for the life of me I cannot recall what… so I’ll just go on and write about the four most recent things!

In my previous post I mentioned I had to talk with the contractor to discuss all the extra’s I wanted. Well, it all worked out fine and I ordered an extra tap, outside on the back wall, plus an extra water discharge for my dishwasher in the kitchen. Of course, when checking the progress last week, neither was in place even though they should have been at this point in the construction phase. The contractor assured me they made all houses “default” at first and would add the extra’s later. Translated: they forgot and have to make up for it. As long as the end result is the same, I don’t really care, though.

Also, I moved back in with my parents! Ahhh, the joy of no housekeeping, good food when you get home from work, no living expenses. It comes at the price of only having a small room for yourself, but for the time being I kind of enjoy it! The moving part was a bitch, though. Of course, it was raining, and it took us seven hours (only the big stuff that went to storage), but we pulled through! Thanks Ed, Freek, and dad ;-)

An update from the contractor said the house would be done earlier than expected… by about a month. Meaning I may get the keys as early as the first/second week of June! Seeing as kitchens can take up to twelve weeks before delivery, I had to be quick!

So I bought this kitchen last weekend… I’d talked with the guy at this kitchen business before and we had a good “vibe”. We put together a nice package and I was really thrilled. This was back in the first week of February. Since I had plenty of time, I put the kitchen project on hold, but had to resume it quickly last week. Before going somewhere else, I went to the same business again and had a nice talk with the salesman and my mother (fact: moms must judge kitchen stuff). She felt the same “vibe” I felt earlier and I went ahead and bought me a great kitchen! Some may read: I was naive and fell for it, but I don’t feel like that and will deny it even if I ever do. If you’re Dutch, if no-one else can offer you a fine kitchen, and if you can find him, maybe you should talk to Arno Arends of Budget Select Keukens in Rijssen.

As a closure: I fell into the Ragnarok Online trap again… damn you, sweet grinding game, damn you!
