Foreign Legion: Buckets of blood, pt 1

The game studio of a friend of mine, Sakari Games, went indie! Not fully, the just made an indie division. A preview of their upcoming game.

Note: The full review is up now (with screen shots!) :-)

I’ll admit, I played the for your eyes only demo and was asked not to share any screenshots (and of course not the demo itself). So, why the hell am I writing this? See it as a prelude to my upcoming amateur review of the full game ;-)

First of all, Sakari Indie is the indie division of my friend Sander’s game studio, Sakari Games. The goal of the Indie division is to make games you can just start up and play for a short time, without having to spend hours on end reaching your goals. Or something. I’m bad at summing up other people’s projects, so don’t take this too literally!

Anyway, about the game! You are a soldier who must defend villagers against attackers. That’s it. You walk around with a pistol with unlimited ammo, a machine gun, a rocket launcher and a radio you can use to call an air strike… once. The attackers have two goals:

  • Kill all villagers
  • Kill you

It’s in your best interest to prevent this! ;-)

It may sound all violent and evil, but it’s all quite light hearted. The setting is in the desert, but it’s not like the Taliban are attacking you. The enemies are like little Lego guys, just like you, the hero. Looking back, I was shooting dogs and SS guys in wolfenstein as a kid and I must say, this is way cuter than that game was!

The full game should be ready soon and when it is, it will be available from Steam, Direct2Drive and Greenhouse. I’ll try and make a review of it before the big review sites announce their game of the year so I can look back later and say: See! I knew quality when I saw it!

Hey Yurrie!

I’m really glad that you enjoyed the beta version of our game. :) Your preview was really fun to read and well written! I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog. :)

Do I spy some Haruhi Suzumiya love in the header by the way? ;)
