Tardy tart

Posted on Fri 10/16/09 in Personal

Ah, weekend is almost upon me. The time to relax, do things I like doing, and doing chores around the house. In a perfect world, that is.

This story is somewhat exaggerated ‘cause I felt like it ;-)

The relaxing and doing fun things obviously happen. Each weekend, I also have quite the chores list since I occupy a whole house by myself and have nobody to share the chores with. You can say that situation has a bright side, since nobody is bugging me about the chores I still have to do. On the other hand, that is the big down side.

You see, I happen to have become quite adept to postponing things that Need To Be Done around the house. Some examples:

  • My towels, wash cloths, socks and underwear all come directly out of the dryer. Folding laundry? Pah, that’s for losers!
  • Clothes shall not be ironed until the closet is completely empty.
  • I tend to use only one toilet so I don’t have to clean two.
  • The tons of papers on the dinner table can be ignored quite easily.
  • Why unpack the dish washer when there are dishes-a-plenty in the cupboards? Dirty ones can always be stacked so they won’t be in the way.
  • Pan’s can be reused multiple times before requiring a cleaning.

Of course I can go on, but my point has probably been made.

Thankfully things haven’t become this bad yet, but on some parts I’m heading there! I do wait way too long before ironing clothes, folding laundry and hovering. But if you suffer from the same problems, fear not, for I have a solution! I noticed that when I have people coming over, I want things to be tidy and neat. So when I think I have been tardy for too long, I simple arrange for friends to come over and the place is spotless in no time!

But I don’t have any friends, you insensitive clod!

Well, then it probably doesn’t matter if your place is a mess :-)
